I'm still holding out for the $1200 range...and a job...but if i had the job, I would've already gotten one anyway...

Maybe I should just stick with my K-x for a while and get some nice lenses.

Okay, so K5 arrived last night. Serial # is 393xxxx. Build-date is 1/25/11. So that should be indicative of current B&H stock. Well within the "safe" range. Serial # sticker on outside of box did not have that "circle with a slash" mark indicating that the unit had been manually checked for stain, so I guess it was considered "safe" and didn't warrant a check. Camera did not appear to have ever been unpacked before. Firmware was 1.01. Image counter reset to zero.
I got mine from B&H one week ago. All the same applied for mine.

I pulled the trigger yesterday!

With what's happening in Japan (All the best to the Japanese people), I didn't want to be caught in a situation where there could be a shortage. (yes, I know they are made in Philippines and Vietnam)

Have recieved my camera. No stains! Number 399...
At SHEIDO store on ebay it was $1265, now - 1295. Shipment - $59, took 7 days.
Came in box from kit with 18-135. That is how they make them cheaper: they divide kits and sale items from it separately.
Now waiting for 16-50 and grip from BH...

Purchased mine this week from Beach Camera. Pretty sure it was $1369. Found a $30 coupon code thanks to Google. $1339 - I'm thinking not too shabby! Fed-Ex tracking says it's in transit, due to arrive TOMORROW! EEP!

No stains from B&H here either. I must say B&H is great because of their price adjustment policy--if the price drops within the 15 days after reciept of camera (which is their return cutoff) they will refund the difference to your CC. They did for me. By the time all was said and done with selling the printer through Ebay and getting the $400 rebate there, cashback, etc., my grand total for the K-5 with the 2 year extended warrenty has came out to $1121. Not to shabby--by the time I sell my old K100D, it will come out to under one grand, which was my overall threshold.

Thanks Doglover

I order through Adorama with their current discount at $1350.
Resisted the silver one and instead use that difference ($1350 and $1700=$350) to buy a DA40 silver!

Lee

Edit:
received my k-5 from Adorama, again the shipping package from Adorama is just sub-par. I compliant once before and I think Sarah from Adorama in this forum contacted me and promise they will improve, not so. The k-5 was at the corner of the shipping box, only two sides of it is padded, leaving the remaining two sides banging with the shipping box. Nice job again Adorama! I don't know if I would recommend Adorama even I am their affiliate member.

My k-5 come with 393xxxx serial number. Not so happy as I see some of the people here get serial number 399xxx and 400xxx with their recent purchase K-5. The production date is 1/23/2011, come install with firmware 1.01. For this serial number, I have to do the stain test from time to time, NOT HAPPY!

First impression is that it is light, so I really need to get a battery grip.
