I would vote for Smeggys
"FW 1.03 Improves but does not fix the FF issue"

It is not perfect, but prior to the update anything wider then 35mm where absolutely useless below EV4, now it seems to hit focus most of the time in dim (but still hand-heldable) lights.

The K5 is back on my "recommendable" list.

I just don't get these discussions here. I suggest people's opinions by what amount the new firmware fixes the FF issue are irrelevant, simply because it is not an opinion to begin with. It is factual. How that affects people (i.e. if they still recommend the camera) is a matter of personal preference and thus opinion. Please people keep those things separate.

I intended to, but being new to doing a poll I only saw provisions for 4 choices, so I consolidaqted as best I could. I'm sure it's OpError on my part so apologies

Well I disagree somewhat. In Smeggy's example the failure of 1.03 to fix his specific camera seems to have confirmed that his problem is a "bad" sample of the K-5, and so he's directed to an appropriate solution.

Beyond that, I wanted to provide a quick reference to people who might have been sitting on the fense about the K-5 whether the FF issue that has been MUCH discussed in this forum had finally been resolved to the point it was/wasn't still an issue. There are other threads that go into the details of individual experience for folks that want to pursue it.

Finally, Pentax's reputation has taken quite a beating about its willingness to admit and/or address problems (SDM being the most common example I've seen). I get the impression (and it's just MHO) that Hoya is trying fix that perception. So I posed a question to see if Pentax's efforts regards the K-5 is having any effect on how people view it's commitment to its customers.
