I have 2 questions about yours marvels (hopping to buy one ):
1 Serial Number (can be another numbering than classic K5 look)
2 What about the "stains problem" and "focus in tungsten low light"-sorry to embarrass you.

serial number is in the 4006xxx range

My silver K-5's sensor is perfectly spotless, even after numerous videos.

It came pre-loaded with the 1.02 firmware, and the low-light front focus problem was definitely there. Upgrading to firmware 1.03 pretty much cured that problem. I now have a flawless silver K-5.

I seem to have a couple spots, but I think they are just dust. Need to get a cleaning kit before I can be certain, but they don't seem to be the familiar "string of pearls".

My K5 came with a couple of dust spots, too, but I was able to get rid of them by running the built-in sensor cleaning function. Have you tried that?

I had run the dust cleaner and configured it to also run at startup, but when I did the test yesterday afternoon I had two spots. I ran the cleaner again about a dozen times and the sensor now seems perfect. Must have had a couple stubborn flecks, but all is now good. That's a relief! Love this camera!

Mine was flawless as well, and I loaded 1.03 before doing anything else other than verifying no spots.

After three (3) days at Sebring, 6500 shots, the body and lenses were well dusted with dirt and sand. I used only my DA* 200 f/2.8 and DA 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 WR and the sensor is still clean from what I can tell.

God I love dust/weather sealing.

Nope, but this weekend I plan on creating a 2nd signature pic entitled, "Is your system sealed?" sporting my K-5 Silver Limited, DA* 200 f/2.8, D-FA 100 f/2.8 WR and DA 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 lenses.
