Love it, but which lens

I just got mine, but what "walk about" or "street" lens will do it justice? I have kit lenses from older Pentax digitals, and I can see that I'll need to upgrade. Thoughts?

I live in a large city, and most of my shots are "street" and people shots.

Thanks much.

Tamron 17-50 f2.8 or 28-75 f2.8 are both great lenses with a good price tag on them..they are fast wich is cool for inside or night fotos.
But if i were you i would shoot with the lenses you got till you figure out wich focal lenghts you really use a lot. Then i would consider if i want the versatility of a zoom or if i prefer a couple of smaller and/or faster primes.
In any case enjoy!

Zooms are convenient, but they really don't compare to the primes for IQ. I use the DA 21mm f3.2 as a general purpose street and walkaround lens, with the 40mm f2.8 in my pocket for when I need a little more length. Together with the compact K-5, the two pancakes provide an unbeatably portable and unobtrusive combination, with outstanding IQ. I find the 21 just right for the majority of city walkaround shots. Initially I used the DA* 16-50, which was good, but I never knew what I was missing until I bought the primes. Now the zoom rarely gets an outing, and I certainly don't miss its weight and bulk.

For an all-around lens, I recommend the 18-135mm, as it's even weather-sealed! By other preference is a longer prime, such as the FA 77.

I bought the DA* 16-50 f/2.8 with my K20D for the rebate. But my DA* 16-50 f/2.8 was destroyed in "sling fling" (by someone who didn't realize what a slingbag is -- or rather -- is not). The K20D survived (even though plastic was "shot back into" the mirror/sensor/pentaprism).

I stayed in a holding pattern, since I have the DA 16-45 f/4 as a backup. The f/4 isn't as fast, or as sharp, and it's not WR for that matter. But it's fine for common 16mm (24mm) wide usage. I really love those few extra mm in focal. I also have the DA 10-17 Fisheye.

But I finally just ordered the DA 18-135 WR as my walkabout lens since many people love the IQ and it is WR. It's definitely got more range at the expense of wide. I'll find out how good it is soon enough at Sebring with my new K5 Silver.

Unfortunately there's no rain forecast for the race. Darn. I had fun at Lime Rock last year in about 7 hours of rain with the K20D + DA* 16-50 f/2.8 and DA* 200 f/2.8.
