Thank you very much everyone, for the awesome input and advice.

The deed is done. The plastic was used. The economy has been stimulated (again).

I will be the proud owner of a black K5 in 48 hours.

Will also be the proud owner of the following lenses ....

Congrats on the K5 - it is truly a fantastic camera and I know you will not be disappointed.

Thanks Frogfish! Other than having way too many cameras, my biggest concerns about the K5 are:

(1) OVF ... I'm now used to the EVF of the GH2 and the A55. While OVF obviously provides more clarity, those two EVF's are HUGE and almost as clear as an OVF. Plus, you can overlay all sorts of info on the EVF.

(2) Live view AF speed. Sometimes, for walkaround, I just compose with the LCD and shoot from the hip. That works pretty well for the GH2 and A55, b/c the AF on the LCD is the same speed as through the EVF. I read that the live view AF speed of the K5 is pretty good compared to other standard DSLR's.

(3) Please no stains! No front focus. No back focus. No side focus. Or top focus!

(4) Hope the significant other doesn't get PO'd when she sees yet another new camera!

My thoughts:

1) a 35 ltd (macro), which is relatively affordable, good compromise for indoor/ outdoor, not too slow (2.8), and has the macro ability (should you need it). it's also beautifully made - all metal body, with sleek Ltd design and a nice, built in, retractable hood

2) a da* 50-135, which you'll be able to buy, since you do not splash out at the 31/ 77 combo. I guess that if you're going for *** JUST TWO *** lenses, this extra flexibility of a zoom lens might come in handy

Sell something!
(Not too big, mind. But something that you can say has mitigated the price, reduced accumulated and unused gear, helped someone who needed what you sold but couldn't afford it new - look at that: I've covered financial management, housekeeping and social service all in one sentence.)

"Two" was the original plan. But I actually ended up order three.

LOL! Thanks for the ideas. I did sell the bulk of my Oly 4/3 gear. But I had already used that excuse when I got the GH2!

Sigma17-35, Sigma 70-150 topped off with a Quantaray 28-70 Macro!
Or a light upgrade would be Pentax DA 15, FA 43, FA 77

Hehe. I'll keep the suspense going a little bit longer until they arrive tomorrow.

But out of all the named lenses, you have one correct.

WOW!!!

Scary.

You got it right.

Please give me six numbers, each number ranging from 00 to 99. I need to go buy some lottery tickets!

How did you come up with those three lenses?

I really wonder why not more people vote for the 50-135...
For fun I play with my 43 and 77, but to be honest, the 50-135 is wayyy more flexible and just as good. It is a great lens, really.
Whatever you end up buying, be sure to consider this baby.

I just bought a 50-135 ... (even though I already have 21, 24, 43, 50, 70, 100, 135 primes!)

It's a great sports lens, and very flexible. The quality is definitely not as good as the primes though, but decent for a zoom. My only problem is that it's quite heavy, and needs a grip on the body to balance out the weight. K-5 + grip + 50-135 makes for a very bulky and heavy combo - well into Canon EOS-1D territory.

Here's some sample photos on the 50-135:
