best or premium quality settings

mornin all...

just getting my k-5 up and running...

the default on the k-5 is ***/best, but offers the ****/premium setting for image quality... gotta ask, why not opt for the ****premium setting, noting the file size will be bigger, but not a concern to me....
any comments/responses.....
what are other k-5 shooters using?
thanks, dave m

If you go the next setting down it allows for burst shooting whereas highest image quality doesn't.

Who'd have thought you could get better than best? That is "most unique".

when i asked this question (surprised at the lack of feedback) i wondered why pentax would make three stars the default, and not the four star premium quality option... with a dslr body of this ilk and capability, why would anyone want less than

+1
I use the '**' setting most time because it allows some long burst of Hi continuous shooting, as long as all the in-camera PP are switched off.

In JPEG, I found little differences between ****, ***, and **. When I need higher quality, I shoot RAW+.

I have shot raw ever since my first digital camera, the Nikon E5700. Why lose any bits?

Post processing technology improves all the time - photos I took in 2004 look really good when reprocessed in Adobe Lightroom 3:

Also sounds like there isn't too much of a sacrifice in continuous shooting in RAW vs the variety of JPEG quality settings given the first firmware update.

May as well shoot RAW if memory's not a big deal.

I shoot the top Jpeg + Raw. Is it better than best? I can't tell any difference. Mrs Rupert says I am the Best......but am better than Best if I have some cash or a new Credit Card for her........
Pretty damn handsome either way! She says I look best by candlelight...........
Best Regards!

Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Rupert, a fellow of infinite
jest, of most excellent fancy. He hath bore me on his back a
thousand times, and now how abhorr'd in my imagination it is!
My gorge rises at it.
