ruined?

nah.. who cares?

I like my k-5 because it forgives a lot of my mistakes...

...because I don't have to worry about the weather

...and because, compared to it's competition, its build quality and size allows it to follow wherever I go.

I'm neither an art critic, nor a photographer. However, I do believe that photography is more about the image than the technical aspects on how to obtain it. In this sense, any improvement in technology that can assist the photographer (in this case, the "technically challenged person behind camera") in coming closer to depicting the message he or she would like to convey is a good thing. I find this way easier with the k-5 than my previous camera. As such, it's made me a better photographer. </philosophic writing style>

That's kind of my original point. If the K5 allows me to get shots hand-held that I couldn't get before (and it definitely does), then doesn't that make me better? I know it doesn't affect my artistic vision or composition or anything, but it does allow me to better achieve what my mind's eye sees. I think you can hardly ask more from a camera than that.

We always see people say "well, it's a fine camera, but it won't make you a better photographer." I think I can make the argument that the K5 has indeed made me better.
Just to come in and confirm that K-5 also made me better. It SO MUCH helps me overcome low light situations to shoot "nature" without flashes . And my landscape scenes are more wonderful than ever with excellent HDR !

I think Fontan didn't understand what you meant . Maybe he wanted you to upgrade to 645D to become the best . For me, I don't need go too far there (if don't say "stupid" for my hobby). I don't care whether he has 645D or not or what fancy techniques are , I just care if the camera produces better pics on whatever display medium (monitor, laptop, paper, movie film) within my conditions (money , purpose, mobility ..) .

In my conclusion, K-5 didn't make Fontan better photographer . It is very clear . And through this argument, it could be that 645D makes him the worst photographers among Pentax owners (if he has one) . Because 645D is fine camera, but he cannot make better photos with that huge camera . Is that right ?

Who cares ? That's right . Do SHARING , not BETTING . This is not the Casino.

I'm not going out on a limb and say the K5 has made me a better shooter......it has certainly given me a new range of opportunities.
What counts most, and is of the utmost of importance, is that Squirrels love it!
Best Regards!

At about 45 feet......Fast to lock focus, even with the Bigma, something that never happened before, and at ISO 2500, the Squirrel still looks plenty Handsome.

Yup, I just wanted to support your view on that one Now all I need is more of whatever "artistic vision" is. will that be included in the next firmware update or do I need a medium-format camera?

In the meantime; having spent all that dough on a k-5 I shoud probably go out and take som pictures while I save up for "artistic vision"v2.0.

My K-5 definitely delivers better photos and allows me to take photos that I couldn't take with any previous camera. This is the camera I've been waiting for and always wanted. For me, buying it was the best purchase of the decade

Ha! Well, I certainly don't claim to have cornered the market on artistic vision, either. But I have a feeling that while you're doing all that shooting and saving, you'll find that you've been struck by it somehow.

I'm sure he appreciates being presented in a better light right? I'll bet he even combs his hair for the shoots.
