I have K20d and K200d too and I think they make an awesome pair!

Of course, from time to time I still want different, newer bodies too but that's beside the point

I think that in the coming months my K-5 Silver has to go back since my front e-dial is going a little weard, but at the time still functions. Well we see how that goes, since it is only a minor issue with a easy repair.

Well frank, if I could afford it that would be a very beautiful body. Since I can't afford it, I'm sure it's not as good as the all black one!
Lol. yeah!

No, but really, very nice! Congrats!

I don't know how it is in Europe, but with Pentax Canada, nothing is an easy repair.

Question from Beginner

Hi,

i'm interested in the purchase of the Pentax K-5 ( Silver Edition ).
since i'm a beginner in the SLR world i have something to ask.
I see you bought 3 different lenses.

i suppose they are these 3 :

smc FA 31 / 1,8 AL Limited
smc FA 43 mm / 1,9 Limited
smc FA 77 mm / 1,8 Limited
can you explain me what is the main use you can do with each one of them ?

is their color the same "silver" as the "limited Silver " ?

you can zoom with these lenses ?

Sorry about my lack of knowledge on this subject
thanks

S.

Well all three FA Limited (31, 43, 77) are prime/normal lens, so they cannot zoom.

Well do you know a store that still has K-5 Silver in stock? Other wise this little dream ends here. The colour is just a little different. There is somewhere in the thread something about it. with pictures of my K-5 and I think 77mm and 43mm.

General purpose and portrait are some uses to name, but the 77mm focus is also very fast so some indoor sports would be possible.

No zooms!

Something showed up at my door today

Looks like this fine piece of engineering has made its way into my hands, brand new! After handling it I like it quite a bit, looks good and not cheap. The grip is definitely much more pronounced. The only thing for me is compared to the black color it looks more refined and sophisticated in a retro sort of way whereas the black one has a great rugged professional look. I'm a bit on the fence with this one, I may have to get the black one.

Congrats on that new baby. Enjoy it for the coming years. The grip will just grow on your hands.

Thanks, I have been lusting after the K5 since it came out and have been lusting even more for the Limited. In a way I have a hard time seeing myself using this camera out in the rain or on a hike etc...thus creating a bit of cognitive dissonance for me. Completely unjustified I'm sure as this camera by no means would be any less rugged than its black counterpart. But for some reason I keep seeing this as a "city" camera. Oh well, just got to take it out there I guess.

I'm past that point and use it next to my K-5 black for every use to think off. Not a collectors item for me, but a camera to use in all wheaters.

Right you are...I know that this is purely psychological. When I look at the K5 limited I see Audi A8 and when I look at the K5 black I see Jeep Wrangler with mud grappler tires. Both of which I like and admire for different reasons. Maybe I should combine the images and envision a Range Rover instead . Yeah I think that's the ticket.
