I've been using generics for 4 years and they are fine. Don't if you don't want to but there's no reason to try and scare people off of them.

(I bought 2 before I ordered my K7 a year and a half ago. Still had them when I ordered the K5 so I didn't have to wait either).

That's enough time to read through the operating manual thoroughly...

I've had good luck with aftermarket batteries as well. I have a 2800mah one for my K5 (oem battery is 1800mah).

I've never had a problem with the after market batteries for either the K20D or the K-5 and they certainly last as long as the Pentax battery before needing a recharge.

Where did you buy that batterie??????????

How long does it run? With normal batterie you can fill easily 32GB card. But in LiveView some extra energy would be handy.

While I have had bad experience with aftermarket batteries before I bought one from UK for my new K-5. So far I am into second round and it seems to hold even better than the original. But my previous generics started give up rapidly after 10 cycles.
I hope this time when bought not from HongKong would last longer.
When I find a battery grip cheap I will get that for sure and specially when I go to travel. Ability to take AA batteries is an excellent option.

this is where the grip is is handy..you can stick some AA's in and your away..great for emergency..

beats me why the OEM battery is only 1800 MAH....not much by todays battery standards...2500 MAH would have been better ......i can put 2500 MAH AAs in though
