So can anyone recommend an ebay seller for the Type 2 metal grip? Not amazon.com because marketplace sellers can't send overseas (europe).

Thanks for your help!

I can't remember the exact seller that was mentioned before, but I did find some similar ones with the metal posts.

I have been using this one bought on Ebay:

Pro BATTERY GRIP Pack FOR PENTAX K7 K 5 K5 D-BG4 DBG4 | eBay

I am happy with it. In fact, it seems to be solid and reliable. I noticed that some photos of other units had the bed-of-nails connector using tin-plated pins instead of gold - but this one that I received is gold plated. That's probably one of the most important things to be sure of. Aside from that, all switches work and feel like those on the camera, and it fits without problems. I recommend it.

Just got my K-5, now I need to buy a grip. I'd like to get the Pentax version, but locally it would cost me almost $380 for a grip and battery ($280 for just the grip). Hard to justify that when the 3rd party grip and battery is $90 with two batteries.

PS, How do you post the ebay links with the description and not the url?

The 1st one you have posted is the one I bought for my K5, I did have to remove one of the seat pins, but it works fine. (There was a thread soewhere about having to that) I have had no problems with the grip at all, it came with 2 batteries (both fully charged by the way,) I paid 70 dollars for it. well worth the money. I got the K5 on a friday morning, and in the mail the next day I got the grip, so I was pretty stoked that weekend! I have had the grip on there for 3 weeks, and have taken about 2,000 pics, and again No problems at all with the grip!

I picked up a Pentax grip and a second battery from B&H Photo (both OEM). With shipping, taxes, duty etc, it cost me about $35 less than just the grip locally (including taxes). It's still expensive compared to the 3rd party grips though.

I'm not sure why the Canadian stores are so expensive when it comes to the grip and batteries.

My third party grip type 2 failed today, water got in it taking surf shots lucky it did not damage the camera. So I bit the bullet and bought one from B&H even with postage nearly half price of what they are here in Australia
