Prodigital2000

Who has dealt with Prodigital2000 and how was the experience? How fast was shipping?Looking to buy a K-5 but am not getting a good feeling dealing with London Drugs which is the local dealer. One store has the body and the next closest store has the 18-135 lens but the store with the lens won't ship it to the store which is 2 minutes from my house without prepayment! The store with the body will ship the body to the store with the lens but after all this I don't think I want to give the lens store any business.Besides PD2000 is about $200 cheaper.

I have never had problems with PD 2000. I buy from their web site from Nova Scotia and find their prices the best so far for my K5 and the DA*16-50 in 2009.

I have bought from Prodigital and London drugs. Prodigital is great as long as you pay for the more expensive shipping (at least a year ago). I do prefer getting something from close to home as there is some value in being able to walk down the street to deal with an issue. Shipping can be a hassle.

I bought my DFA 100 macro, my 31mm, my af 540fgz and the optio w90 from PD2000 ... everything was ok, friendly telephone support. Shipping to Austria was no problem.

I just bought my Silver 77mm Limited from them and everything went just fine. Good communication and quick shipping to the U.S. even with the standard shipping.

My 2 experiences were positive (Michigan). However, they are known for advertising items they don't really have in stock in anticipation of very soon arrivals. You might want to call them and make sure they actually Have a K5 to sell you before forking over your cash (if you're going through ebay for instance).

I bought some lens from them before.. good price and free shipping. With PD2000 it is likely that you will get a 'brand new' item whereas if you get it from the local store, you may get one that has been returned by someone for no reason.

If you are not in a hurry... that is no big deal... and besides, most likely getting the 'new' one.

I didn't say it was a big deal. It's just a practice of theirs that a new buyer should be made aware of. I had to wait for my DA35 f2.8 (i've actually bought from them 3 times) in Nov 2008. It was one of those too good to pass up deals and once I got in touch with them about the initial delay, everything was good. My DA*300 and my DFA100 f2.8 WR were delivered within a week of paying, across the US border.

I wasn't teasing you or anything... the main point is that with PD2000, I don't think you can return unless it is defective (I am not sure). So, the chance of getting a less than 'new' item is less likely than the regular B&M store.

I didn't think you were. I think we are on two different pages here. I don't remember their terms but in the case of Ebay, returns were allowed IIRC but it may well have been for defect only. In my case, it's risky buying across the border (warranty and all that) but the prices were such that I was willing to take the chance. 2 of the lenses came with 7 year Mack warranties. In one case I had to write them and have them send the warranty because their shipping dept forgot to pack it in the box (actually that lens came in a padded envelope). In the end though, they were quite responsive and willing to correct any mistakes they had made so I'm still calling all 3 times, good experiences. I'm not such a hothead that I can't allow for 'mistakes happen'.

They may have altered their practices a bit. I missed their first auction of a 77mm Silver and sent them an email about when they would be getting more and if I could order now. They wouldn't take my order until they had new stock for that item. It may just have been due to limited quantities, but fyi.
