lol, I never thought of that. Maybe the K5 is sensitive to evil spirits!

Dr. Who, your experience (among others) is encouraging me to sit tight until I can afford to purchase a K-5 domestically.

I suspect Davros is behind this glitch, Dr. Who.

I am glad I bought my locally. I brought it back into the store today and they were unable to replicate it with a K5 they have in the back. So they are going to exchange it. Unfortunately they don't have any more in stock in the city so I hope there isn't a shortage and they can transfer one from another store fairly quickly.

I picked up my new camera today, did a few pictures and seems to be better. I will have to give it a proper work threw on a upcoming day off.

I just used live view yesterday and it happened to me a couple of times ... Now the problem is, I got mine from Japan. I did buy the extended warranty here in the US. Do you think I'd have to send it to Japan?

Edit: I only got it to happen those 2 times yesterday. Can't get it to happen any more. Should I just wait it out, or should I try contacting Pentax? I'd like to get a video of it to support my claim.

Placing a link here to another thread (mine). I ran into the same problem, although mine doesn't seem to happen a lot so far, I've seen it twice.

Did you ever sent your K-5 to Pentax Repair due to this issue? My friends K-5 is doing the same. Wondering if they repaired it and if they told you what the issue was?

I noticed this only happens when you enter Live View the first time you power up the camera after inserting the battery. Subsequent power on off does not cause this, but if you leave off for a while and then power on it does it again.

Also happens when in sensor cleaning mode. I can see the sensor shaking.

I didn't send it in for repair. I use live-view infrequently and the problem occurs rarely... not enough to bother me.

Is this because you have the option enabled to do sensor cleaning on power-up?

And does this only happen on a freshly charged battery? Does it happen on a battery that has been used a bit?

My friend is concerned that there may be a malfunction with the Image Stabilization, thus it may cause issues on normal (non Live View) mode with image quality.

Good questions. I have to check his camera, although the sensor cleaning on the K-5 is not very loud. This sensor shake here is very noticeable.

Will have to check on the battery charge. Is there a known issue that correlates to battery charge?

Perhaps. There may be some possible link between freshly charged batteries and 'mirror flop' and other weirdness. It seems that the Pentax battery charger can dump too much juice into the battery, so people who throw the battery into their body straight away are getting power levels initially above spec. Leaving a freshly charged battery overnight, it is suggested, lets it settle down and bleed off a bit of excess current.

Works for me But I keep several batteries already charged and ready to go, which means they may be days (or longer) old, and thus perhaps below full capacity. So I have never had to put a 'hot' battery straight into the camera.
