K-5 / K-7 power adapter?

hi everybody

is there such an item as a K-5 (or K-7) power adapter out there in the market?

i know there is a mention of the device in these two cameras instruction manuals, but searching around for the item on the Internet, it simply doesn't exist, or it's suited to an older Pentax DSLR if i recall it right and is not good for these two cameras, or is it?

please tell if you know about this.

many thanks
PR

No the adapter's the same, sure they call the kit the K-AC50, but actually the adapter itself is the D-AC50 and has been for a number of models earlier than the K-7.

eg 39364 Pentax D-AC50 AC Adapter Kit for K20 and K10D Digital SLR Cameras

Though they only appear to come out in batches of 50, hence back orders

thank u Col for the great and quick reply.

i know that may sound like a stupid question but do you have one of these yourself? do they work as they should?

best way to do things like Pixel Mapping or downloading / uploading files directly off and to the camera would be through using one of these adapters. batteries simply are not economical to use for such purposes, or they even simply may fail to do certain things such as Pixel Mapping.

best and thanks again

Yes, I have one and it works fine with the K10d, K20d and K-5. Tend to use it when running the camera on tripod with HDMI plugged into a monitor.

I still have plans for Interval shooting on a driven mount for night sky.

New price of the AC50 from a reputable (but not full RRP dealer) seems to be around £130 ($180) in the UK... Yikes! Does anyone know what is so special about this item? Is it the proprietary connector plug? Does it have to mimic the supply of two Lipo voltages (4.15V) rather than just the overall one voltage (8.3V)? Thanks!

I've described the solution here https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/do-yourself/169596-d-ac50-power-adapter-c...placement.html
