Best screen ever for manual focus : Canon ee-S!!!

So I'll go ahead a see what happens.

I also got me one of those "Rocket Blower" (Giotto's) to clean the focusing screen on my K5, and was sure this would come handy after installing the ee-S screen on the K7 but what happened is: caused MORE little dark specs of "some nature" to appear on the K5 screen on top of those alerady there!
Looks like the inside of the blower had some very small material specs which got blown onto the screeen !
It is not affecting the images though, so I guess I will just leave the dirt spots there.
I did go through the thread(s) on cleaning a focusing screen but there are at least 10 different methods found in there ... very hard to decide what to do.

I seldom do manual focus but i do missed the focus with auto focus. Does the focus screen help?

It would help you see what's in focus, but would do nothing to help (or hinder) your AF. AF and the focusing screen are not functionally integrated.

Well, the Canon EE-S screen that this thread is about would help you to see focus over the entire viewfinder. A split-screen type would help more in the center than elsewhere. Though, as most would tell you, the EE-S is better, even in the center, than a split-screen. I've had both kinds and prefer the EE-S hands down.

I agree with DogLover as I used to have the split screen and now own the S-type. AF is so much easier to use.

I don't do manual focus. Does it make sense to install one for af lenses like 16-50 and 18-135?

If you simply just point and shoot with the autofocus I would say no. Though I don't see why a person never would use any kind of manual focus. You know that you can manual focus with the AF lenses too? Just asking to be sure.

Not necessary if you don't use with manual lenses.

The EE-S screen is good for fast lenses (f/1.4-f/2) only... From f/2.8 on, there is no real benefit to it, except that it gets less grainy in low-light (but it's slightly darker with f/3.5-5.6 lenses, so...).

Taking into account that you have no fast lenses:
- If you are more into architectural subjects, then a split would be better.
- If you are into portraits, well, a split is not that easy to use on facial features anyway, so I'd say that it's a tie between a split, an EE-S and the stock screen...
