Maybe this should be somewhere else? Anyhow, I am tickled pink...or sort of light magenta, over my K5 and I like most everything about it. Perfect is a strong word, but it seems to fit my K5 very nicely.

I have not mastered the Menu system, and I know it might help to read the manual. but who does that? What would help me is to be able to make my own Custom Menu page that listed the things I use most all on one page. Could that be possible?

Yes, just those few little things that are most often used so you could quickly locate them and change the settings.
Not a major problem now, but it would make for simpler shooting.

The K5 has 5 user modes. If there are groups of typical settings you use you could assign each group to one of those. Also, you can have the camera remember the last menu used so you don't have to cycle through the menus to get back to where you just were (Custom menu 4 item 24).

I've never used the User Modes, even on my K20D....I need to explore that option...which means reading the manual, doesn't it?
If I do read the manual, you guys won't tell anyone, will you?

Not if you don't tell us. Don't feel bad. For me to explore the user modes, I would have to refer to the manual as well

(though I doubt using the option is rocket science).

Nah Rupert. You don't need the manual for the USER modes - just go ahead, select your USER mode, rename it the way you want, set all your settings the way you want them to be, and save them into the USER mode. I'm sure you'll find it useful after all.

An ecellent idea. I saw a suggestion earlier today for an 'app' system to provide a very flexible interest - very interesting.

Sure thing!
Squrrel - P mode with priority for fast shutter speed, as well as when it's got an acorn in its little paws.
Girl - Av mode with WB adjustments for skin tones, and to beep when the girls smile lusciously in front of the camera.
