Hey everyone,

I've been watching these forums for a while and thought I'd finally register - I swapped from a Canon 7D to the K5 in August last year and couldn't be happier half the price of the 7D and the quality is like chalk and cheese! Here's a shot I took back in March of Orion, using the O-GPS1 and a Sigma 18-200 @ 170mm. Settings are F6.3, ISO1600, 120 seconds. Pretty happy with the results I got a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 coming hopefully Friday so looking forward to trying that out with astrophotography too!

To quote the fantastic King Diamond:
"I can not sleep at night. That's what the day is for anyway."

I want that O-GPS1 thingy.

I am going out for my first astrophotography excursion next weekend. Are there any Southern Calofornia people here who might be able to rent me a K5II or K5IIs for use? Please p.m. me if so.

Thanks everyone! I headed out last night in near perfect conditions west of Mackay Australia and did this nice stack - 26 minutes of 30 seconds at F3.5 ISO800 on the Sigma 10-20mm - the light trails are glowsticks in the river

Love it! I just saw something about putting glowsticks in rivers somewhere else. Cool!

Great shot! And very nice to use the glowsticks! Here is my first attempt to shot the Milky Way (resized image)
Location: Strawberry crater, Az.
5 images of 20 sec ISO 1600. Unfortunately I took those in jpg mode...
Stacking in MaximDL, the stacking is not so good either.

I think this is beautiful. I took the liberty of stitching it with Microsoft ICE. I hope that's alright. It's not perfect, but it's not bad for free software

Orion Nebula M42

Take through Stellarvue 80mm ED refractor. Processed with Deep Sky Stacker and Nebulosity. My next step in processing this should be to remove the halos around stars.
