captainbert - your stack photos are incredible!! I want to get into star trails. How did you get the colors in the night sky? I've never seen it like that before

I took this picture of Orion's sword this morning during the lunar eclipse.
Camera: K-5
Lens: SMC Pentax-DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED
O-GPS1 (Astrotracker), 60 seconds, f8, ISO 1600, 300mm.
Used Lightroom 5 to crop a bit and adjustments to remove light pollution.

Good picture. And very natural, exactly as I saw it in a very clear winter night through my telescope, high in the mountain. Congrats.

Mine from NZ around midnight. We have been plagued with storms over the past week and last night still had cloud with intermittent clear spots.
Pentax K10D, 75-300mm FAJ set at 300mm, ISO 1600, NR on, 2 secs exposure, tripod mounted.

I also took some shots with the same camera mounted on my Bigma (50-500mm) @ 7sec exposure 500mm F/8 ISO100 with the O-GPS-1 astrotracker

I cropped the photo and kept the star to the left to show no star trails.

It was clouded here during the eclipse, but I did get a good image of the Moon Monday night.

I used my 8" SCT @ F/6.3 and the K-5 IIs 1/750 second @ ISO 160. Post processed in PS to enhance contrast and detail. I'm generally pleased with it. The 30 year old optic did well.

I haven't seen all of the moon pictures on the forums, but of the one's I have seen, yours is by far the best. Cheers.

Yes, there are a lot of good astrophotos in this thread and also in others. Maybe someone from Pentax will see it and will consider that this field need some attention. I just saw some picture on the Sky & Telescope magazine, from the Science Imaging and Astronomy exhibition from Pierce college, and I've seen Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fuji booth there, but no Pentax.

22 x 900" ISO800 Cooled and full spectrum modified Pentax K5. Celestron c8 OTA @ f6.3 on NEQ6 mount. I plan on doing full HST on this one if I get enough clear nights.
