Nice Result seti_v2....modded Pentax's are kind of a "rare" and seems they preform well..

Yes, I have, but only for planets and the moon. Eyepiece projection generally increases magnification, and increased magnification = less light = exceptionally long exposure times for dim deep sky objects.

That's the problem I'm encountering is the exposure times for planets (Mars; Jupiter; and, Saturn) and how to calculate the exposure times with the C8 and the Edge 11 SCT's. I'll again play with it the next time I'm out in the California desert. Is there a decent book out there on deep space object astrophotography (galaxies; nebulae; globular clusters -- Messier Class objects) for a SCT and a Pentax DSLR. I know that Jerry Lodriguss has one on the market -- is it any good?

My first go at a long exposure. I didn't plan anything fancy, as I wanted to see if i could figure it out, but pleased with the results. Multiple frames blended using StarStax.

Edit - Just for fun, I took the images and made a short time lapse video as well. Kind of fun watching the big dipper moving across the sky.

Great photographs, guys. I wanted to photograph it but it was cloudy in L.A. and I could not see the Moon -- much to my disappointment.

My composite of the eclipse. Unfortunately clouds came in when we hit totality. k5 + sigma 170-500mm at around 450mm
