When taking a shot in portrait mode, why doesn't the image rotate to fill the whole screen like on the K7? I have auto rotation set to on.
If Auto Rotate is off, a portrait shot fills the screen when the camera is in landscape orientation. When Auto Rotate is on, a shot in portrait will show as portrait orientation when the camera is in landscape orientation, though smaller.

There is also a Save Rotation Info setting (#23 in the custom menu) that may need to be on.

I have both On and it works for me, unless I am missing the question.

I think what he meant was the image automatically rotating to fill the screen when turning it sideways, and going back to the "smaller" view when held normally. The K-x also does not have this feature, not sure about the K-r (probably not also).

like this, I think, happening automatically when you rotate the camera in your hands

@aliazine: thanks for the visual. I wasn't following the thread as to what the problem is. I know that on my K5, immediately after the portrait shot my image stays in the portrait mode for full review but in playback mode it is a portrait only in landscape. Wow, I didn't know that I could miss something I never had. That would be a nice feature to rotate the camera and immediately see the full picture.

Yeah.

It was omitted from the K-5IIs, but my $200 Android does it.....

I wonder if we can forward this thread to PRIAC, for their engineers to do a fix??

I knew that wasn't the same when I got my K-5 -- I kept thinking "didn't I use to be able to see these full screen?" but thought I might have been imagining it. Yeah, why don't we complain to someone that can actually do something about it?

Actually, I don't see the point. If you always want to see the image full-screen, you have to turn the camera for portrait-mode viewing or leave it horizontal for landscape shots. How does auto rotation help this?

After checking the operation for my previous post, I think leaving off makes the most functional sense.

Or did I miss something...again?
