That has to be the quickest resolution to the stain that I've ever read about... Hope all is well with the new camera.

Now let's see some photos!

Well I've tested the new K5 and seems to be stain free but there is a small looks like a hair in the lower middle of the screen.Took it back to LD and they could not clean it.So it is not on the mirror or viewfinder. It looks like it is in the viewfinder system,so they are going to order another one.Maybe 3rd time will be a charm. If not I may seriously think about the other 2 brands.

Hi guys,

After I read this topic a few days ago I thought it would be a good idea to test my K5 (SN: 39944xx, made on 21st of January 2011, replacement for the a first stained body).

And guess what ? It has stains ... Right in the middle, 4 beautiful spots. The body was extensively tested by me in the store when it arrived and it was free of stains (it had just a dust spot). So, it looks like they are developing in time. LV and movie recording weren't used more than a few minutes (for a total of 30 minutes). Shutter count is around 3k.

Two raw files can be found here (non stained / stained).

I guess I'm a just a very bad luck guy .

Man, when I see that price floating around, I'm THIS close to pulling the trigger... it's not advertised on their website; just go in and ask?

While you are at it get London Drugs to price match Gastown Photo in Vancouver. Their prices are WAY less. I bought my K-5 for $1199 today...

You've got dust on the pic 0009 at 3 o'clock, stain on the 3177 in the middle.

Everyone, especially those who are discovering stains in previously unstained K-5s, needs to remember to add their camera to the Pentax K-5 Serial Numbers - Pentax Serial Number Database - PentaxForums.com

And if your camera is already listed and it develops stains, please edit your entry and change it to "DEFECTIVE" (this will turn the serial number red).

Either way, in the comments section of the database, please list the frame number/range where you first observed any newly evident stains and describe the type of usage of the camera so we can see if there is a common thread.
