I did notice (quite by mistake) that I can cause the camera to lock up (requiring a battery pull) if I put in the SD card and remove it as the camera attempts to read/initialize (light blinking).

No issues, either 1.01 (original firmware shipped) or 1.03. I format all cards in camera and swap batteries before they're dead, not sure if that's it or not.

I didn't experience any freezing at all until I was shooting my daughter's dance recital in TAv mode. During the whole time it froze 3 times, all requiring a battery pull. It was a freshly charged battery btw. I took a total of about 500 shots, none in burst mode, although there were some sequences where I pressed the shutter very quickly. Hasn't happened since, I cannot explain it.

I've had a couple more when I let the battery get too low, but it's always with a low battery, and replacing it always fixes it. The manual says this can happen and is normal behavior.

The only glitches I have experienced have been freezing during file transfer to computer, and this happened only after changing SD cards, and have not recurred.

Oh, I had a bad SD card that caused mine to go all stupid, but since I relegated it to being a storage drive for my CR-48, I've not had any more goofiness.

Had a few freezes since the update to 1.03....talked to Pentax Canada (yes, I actually spoke to a real person!) ...their head guy in repairs said the most recent firmware has bug fixes even though they haven't listed it...so I've downloaded and haven't had a problem since.. Here's hoping it's done freezing!

Thanks for the tip. On my 3rd body already and still locking up just yesterday. Just installed 1.11 per your tip and will be on my knees tonight praying for something good to happen. Will report back with results but it takes a couple weeks to get complete test.

Hoping for this to stay this way
