Ability to save Lens info and use at camera start up

Was just thinking about this - how GREAT would it be to save your lens info to the camera, meaning, at startup when using a manual lens, we use the scroll wheel to select the focal range. Wouldn't it be a great feature if:

A. Menu Option To Add Lenses And Save To In Cam Memory
B. At Camera Startup, The Wheel Would Cycle Through FR's First, Then Cycle Through The Saved Lenses

Menu input option can be exactly how we save our user settings on K5 now.

Takumar 105 2.8
Takumar 135 2.5
Takumar 35 3.5
Vivitar 24 2.8

etc, etc, etc

Not sure about you guys, but I think this would be a SLAM DUNK feature for Pentax to put in the camera. With this info, it could also be pulled from the body and attached to EXIF tags for the images.

What do you guys think?

I think that is a wonderful idea. And it will never happen. Oh well.

I use exiftool to add the lens info afterward but of course that is awkward.

Joe,

How do you like the 18/11 FE? I have the 17mm but I find there is not too much 'fish' effect on the k-x.

Its not bad, it's more of a thing of having it and saying "I Own It" than anything else.

I think with all of the super asph wide angles you really don't start seeing a distortion of the image (on cropped sensors) until 14mm and under. If you use your 17 on a film body, you will see more of the distortion and it will be quite a bit wider.

I use my 8mm regularly and love the effect it gives...

Ya, my issue is 80% of all my lenses are MF lenses and I have multiple lenses for say "135mm", and I use them all. Right now I need to pen-and-paper the image numbers (from-to) so I know which of the 135's was being used - after a while, it becomes a pain to keep track of it...

I was going to ask "who is Len?" but I like your suggestion.
