Sometimes green button, freezes K-5...

This is an odd one indeed!

As a manual(M) shooter, I often find myself using the green button to take a reading and get things rolling. However, recently... I noticed that in low light(1/6-20s shutter), when I hit the green button the camera freezes momentarily(3-10 secconds). And in some cases, seems to lock-up entirely.

Now, don't get me wrong, this doesn't bother me much as I don't rely on the green button for anything but a convenience. However, I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this as well?

FTR. I shoot RAW/DNG and as bare as a broiled side of beef! and so I don't think were looking at a processing issue(at least not an apparent one).

So my closing statement would be... anyone else experience pauses or momentary freezing with their K-5 in low light when using the green button?
If I do it repeatedly, the camera will lock-up(can't even turn off).

PS. the more I work with the K-5, the closer I get to it's performance limits and the more impressive it gets. Lately I discovered the power of the AmaZe demosaic engine. To which I would add, is simply... well... amazing!!! - but I'm saving that for another thread

EDIT: Perhaps we could work-out a repeatable process and submit to Pentax FW development.

John, I had a similar situation happen a couple of days ago. I was trying an old manual 300mm k-mount lens in manual mode and of course I needed to press the green button to set the aperture and after about the 10th shot., the camera seem to freeze for about 10 seconds. Didn't know what happened and then it was back to normal again.

I have had the same problems with my K20, go figure!

It probably has some thing to do with Tv Shift, the software is trying to find the correct shutter time and goes into a loop or the shutter time may be out of the range. I have not encountered such problem with my K-x and K-7. For night shots, I use cable release on K-7. You can try it this way: in M mode with lens (and viewfinder) cover on and press green button, see what happens. The shutter time should be infinite. The software would select the longest electronic shutter time and that time would be blinking on the LCD screen. Any thing longer than that would be in the B range.
