Pentax K5 on front page of April 2011 issue of BACKPACKER

You never know what you will be reading at the airport while waiting for passengers to arrive. Perusing the magazine stacks at one of the vendor's stalls I notice the K5 on the front page of one of the magazines.

So, just thought I would let everyone know that the April 2011 issue of Backpacker has the K5 on the front cover. On page 136 the camera gets a glowing review for its ruggedness and reliability, after being put through some really rough field testing.

I saw that one in the on-line version. The K-5 makes a lot of sense for backpacking: WR and compact.

I can sort of attest to the rugged portion. I went to Hueco Tanks State Park yesterday here in El Paso. I got caught at the top of a ridge line in a dust storm, that had winds over 50+ MPH. It was "interesting, to say the least. Anyway, between climbing in caves, dust storms, and having to set the camera down to shimmy through numerous tight spots, I was sure, I had trashed this poor camera. Got to the hotel and even without a weather proof lens, the sensor was spotless. Now the lens had dust between the glass and the UV filter, the camera just wiped clean with the damp washcloth, It looks like nothing even happened. I am positive My Kx would not have fared as well. Here is a shot of one of the pictographs in a cave there. I used my Sigma flash. I love this camera!

I found a link, is this it? Short review, but the essential stuff is there for people ready for some serious hiking.

Yes, that is the article. It was short, but to the point.
