Pentax K-5 and external HDMI LCD screen

Ok. Thanks a lot.

I'm turning around looking at all the field monitors there are. The RUIGE models have a function that seems realing interesting: "Peaking focus" to help get a good focus. Does any one know if any other model presents that feature?

(sorry for my poor english, I haven't used it for long)

FWIW, I bought a smallHD 4" for use with my Panasonic GH2 when shooting video. I tried it briefly on the K-5 and it worked fine. The smallHD has some neat features - focus peaking and another mode that shows you blown highlights and shadows. In addition to video I can see it really useful for macros

Yeah I've got the SmallHD DP6 and now use it with a K7. It's pretty nifty, has peaking too. The Marshall peaking looks slightly better but their models don't work with Pentax.

I just found out there was a new Lilliput model , the 665 with a resolution of 1024x600. It could be a good news for focusing!

For those who are interested in a HDMI-connected external/swivel monitor, here is one at Vistek:

a bit pricey but I am very intrigued how good this would work on the K5/K7.

That's really cool. Small enough and accomplishes the reason for having an external screen like that almost perfectly.

So, I've looked into this a little more and I found this video:

... looks good and very handy, much like you'd have a fully tiltable/swiveable monitor on some cameras, but quite a bit bigger and with a "sun visor!.

It isn't as "sharp" as some Lilliput units but I would dare saying that this could do the job very well, especially for those hard-to-focus fast lenses, such as my Zeiss 85/1.4. for portraits (inside) ... and for macro.

Do be aware that there's always a bit of delay using HDMI - part of a second? Personally I find the DP6 peaking and focus assist+ functions lifesavers for macro... But YMMV

Wow! I didn't think there were any true HD field monitors that weren't gigantic and expensive.
$900 isn't bad for a 720p 5.6" screen, especially w/ peaking for HD video.
Anything negative to say about it so far?
This thing seriously looks craploads better than the Marshall monitors...only thing I'd wish for is a 1080p screen...

I've been looking at field monitors and apparently the new Lilliput model has a true 1080p screen. Loads less than $900 too.

I just bought a second hand 7" lilliput monitor (not the latest model) for only 120..
waiting for it to be arrived and test it out...

Nothing on their site has 1080p and their "news" area has an article from 2010
