New price in Aus to be announced in "about a week". Looks like Pentax are hearing our screams of outrage at the crazy price difference between here & os. Stay tuned folks.

See above. It's coming down. I got the "wait until new pricing in about a week" straight from Pentax. It just can't happen quick enough!!

Thanks for that. I'm looking at upgrading soon from a K20D + DA 55-300/F4-5.8 to K-5 + DA* 60-250/F4. I wonder if any lens prices will drop?

Dan.

Maybe it's not our screams of outrage they are hearing, but something else. There could possibly be an announcement soon about a new Pentax like the K-3 or something, to replace the K-5 or be the new flagship?

In the past only the arrival of new models has motivated CRK to drop prices. They have had decades of experience in ignoring screams of outrage from customers in Australia about local pricing of the camera hardware they distribute

I'm buying a K-5 in about 3 weeks, I'd prefer to buy local so I'm crossing my fingers for a price drop...

to upgrade or not to upgrade?

If they announce k3, i'll jump on that straight away

How much did you quote from buymart? I'm sure they'd do a dwi and underquote to avoid tax at that price

The 60-250 is remarkably cheap already locally (at digital camera warehouse): $1,369 vs $1,499 at B&H (before shipping). Hows that for amazing . It's actually very tempting, my 55-300 for the first time disappointed me a little this week, it's soft wide open > 240mm. I'm getting spoilt with sharpness shooting FA limiteds now, so everything else looks a little soft relatively speaking

Was it the $1095 + shipping + gst?
Yeah that was the price that I quoted , but they are not interested in matching.

Even cheaper at Vanbar - $1269. It is VERY VERY tempting at that price, I have to confess.

Straight from CR Kennedy you mean? Or from Pentax? You think that will flow through to shop prices straight away or only once they clear existing stock?

I'm jumping on it the minute it drops to whatever this new price is, hopefully under $1,350.....
