K-5 Updates???

ive been out of the loop lately and wanted to know if any of the following issues have been addressed or acknowledged by pentax.

Purple fringe with high contrast/bright rim lighting.
Front Focusing in dim tungsten lighting.
And pTTL issues.

Im sure alot of the issues are isolated or are of little consequence but with my luck, the k5 i order will have all 3 issues and then some.

Im on the fence between continuing to invest into pentax and get a k5 or jump ship and join the nikon club.

What issues? (That's been Pentax's response thus far...)
But seriously, this has been such a variable issue for K-5 users that it's going to be hard to work out once and for all for all cameras.

The K-5 on the whole is a fantastic camera, and gives the D7000 and 7D a run for their money.

Well the frontfocussing still exsists in some light conditions, but less then before. You can correct that incamera.

Don't know, since I have Metz flashes and since they have a firmware update they work perfect.

There will be new firmware out next month for both the K-5 and the K-r, hopefully it will address some or all these issues.

Really? Will it give me my auto rotation back?

My (admittedly cynical) guess is that it will add support for the GPS unit and do absolutely nothing about the focus and exposure irregularities.

Doubtful I've had the K-5 for almost 9 months now and it still irritates me that they messed with the auto-rotate from the K-7.

Me too. Why the heck would they do that?

I have no idea, it makes no sense to me.

Hi
I use the Metz 58 AF-1 (FW Ver.30) with my K-5 and have zero problems. If a flash gun does not work properly with the K-5, I hazard a guess, it could mean the gun is not (perfectly) compatible with the camera and not the other way around.

Modern tech cameras and older flash guns don't mix very well. This is why the above mentioned Metz can be FW updated via a USB connection to the computer and this way does not become obsolete.

Greetings

We're also talking about P-TTL exposure issues with the AF540FGZ.
There should be no compatibility issues there.

I don't think Pentax will sell many of their GPS units announced for sale next month if they don't bring out firmware updates, since the bodies require updated firmware to utilise the units.

Mhm. That's like the only thing I'd change with the K-5...
