Is there a US d/l site yet? Has anyone had any problems after the new update? Just want to make sure before taking the leap on both my camera's. K-5, K-R

Thanks

The Internet is global.

Or has Obama copied the Chinese and installed an American Firewall?

Installed 1.10 tonight -- and did a before/after test of low light focus accuracy and bounce flash exposure (with AF360).

No improvements that I can see. Oh well.

Did you use the USA version or the UK

What, are you suggesting that I'm seeing in feet and inches but the camera is focusing in meters?

I downloaded from the main .jp site.

I did a little playing around last night, and around EV 3 is where the focusing trouble begins (with an f/2.8 lens), which is consistent with prior experience. At EV 3 I get good, consistent focus on a high-contrast black-and-white target, and reproducible front-focus on lower-contrast real-life targets. At EV 4+ it focuses pretty well on both kinds of targets. At EV 2 and lower I get front-focus on most targets.

And I continue to see the same PTTL extreme bounce-flash overexposure that others have reported. The camera and flash are pretty much useless in PTTL mode for bounce flashing, which is unfortunate.

I'm about to give up hope that either of these will be fixed.

Would you ask your wife who made the redhead? I recognize the style on most of the others but not her and she's got a truly lovely face sculpt that doll. Just wondering who the doll maker was. Your wife has nice taste in dolls and I enjoyed seeing these.

I actually like most dolls but I'm more of a Barbie collector myself. I'm not so much into the porcelains as I am into vinyl, but those are very, very nice examples of the Victorian little girl kind. My best girls are a 1966 Color Magic Barbie, redhead and the 1971 blond Malibu Barbie. You should see the shelf above the computer I am sitting at. There's got to be 35 dolls of the Barbie type sitting up there smiling at me. They're some of my favorite models. Unlike humans they stay nice and still for hours while I take portraits of them.

I just rattled off a few shots of some of my wife's dolls using my AF-360 flash. Bounce was obtained using the Catchlight Panel on the flash because of an off white ceiling.

Other than resizing the only fix that I applied was autoexposure for each photo.

Seems to me that the problems that I have been experiencing with over exposure maybe fixed with this latest firmware.

Try dialling down FEC by 2.0 stops and then trying bounce flash out in different conditions to see how it performs. I wager it then becomes totally usable, but I agree that it shouldn't need that extra tweaking to get right in the first place. Nevertheless, it's not a total write off.

Strange, I had absolutely no problem using bounce flash with my sigma 530 super and my lenses, before or after the v1.10...

The P-TTL overexposure issue was present in some of our cameras before and after all the FW updates, previously mentioned in the K-5 with flash thread.

Just a question. Does this mean K-5 now has built-in geotagging?

With the GPS unit attached, yes...
IIRC it can even bring you back to a given image location (or a previously recorded location selected in a menu), by displaying a compass/distance screen. Great for trekkers that don't want to be lost : snap a pic of your car, then go...

Seems like the most fully integrated GPS unit I've ever seen on a DSLR...
