What would you consider a "good price" for a used K-5?

It's a little early yet, but I'm 85% sure I'll be selling my Pentax gear soon in favor of taking things into a completely different direction.
And so I was wondering if anyone cared to share what they considered a good price for a barely used K-5 in excellent condition.

Are you getting a D3x? I am, next month tongue

I'd say $1100-$1200 or so would be fair, since you can get them for ~$1350 new.

I'm surprised John. You've been a big proponent of the K5 along the way. Sorry to see you go, if that is what you decide.

I'd agree with Adam -- about twenty percent off the price of new.

I just purchased my K5 from Carmans Foto Source aka ProDigital2000 on Ebay yesterday for $1,016.00. That price included free shipping. I am waiting impatiently for the UPS truck.....

Wow that is insanely cheap.
Was it refurbished or something?

$1090 is about the going price via DWI/BestBuy etc... inc 2 yr warranty... refer to the "Price Matching in Aussie Dollar" thread...
CRK also advised that there would be new official pricing this week - I imagine to co-incide with PMA... so expect to see it Friday or Saturday ....
I.e... the suggested price is only going to be 'competitive' for about another 7-days....

$1016 is probably the 'newly adjusted to be better than retail price' that the ebayers will switch to from the current 1090 that is around....

Amazon has them for 1279 now. I sure wish i could sell mine and move to another brand. But bought two lenses that cost a lot of money. So at the mercy of Pentax now. Not for long I hope. If you sell John I am right behind you. Am fixing to order my first Canon. Want to check it out before selling all Pentax gear. I just hope it is better than Pentax.
If I had to guess I would say Pentax is moving to get rid of the lemon K-5 and push another one to market soon.
I ran a small business for most of my life and if I had to deal with the QC problems Pentax has. I don't care if it was the best selling DSLR of all times. It would of been a huge money looser. I bet they have lost there ass on the K-5 big time. I talked to the dealer i bought from in Japan when i send my second one back to him . And he just can't believe it. I thought it was kinda funny he commented on it. The numbers must be huge if he commented on it.

I say 70-75 % of cheapest online new price. I would never pay more.

What Ron said. Since ProDigital has been selling them for 1200, I'd say around 900 or so. But I wouldn't be surprised to see that price for new by Christmas if not before.

Adorama has the K-5 for $ 1279 now - better than their recent "$150 off" sale price.

New K-5 For $1000. Shipped?

I'm not familiar with that seller, but I'll look them up. Was the camera brand new and not grey market or anything unusual like that?

What kind of customer support do they offer?

What is there return policy (in the event of a defect etc.)?

Warrantee policy?

Does Pentax warantee the cameras they sell?

Also, do they charge any sales tax? (Sales tax is 9% in NYC.)

Canon 60D is $899 delivered

Canon 60D is $899 delivered, brand new with warranty.

I'd say a used K-5 is worth less than that. Prodigital 2000 had K-5 for just above $1,000 recently and the Loonie trades higher thesedays compared to my lowly Dollars.

Until I see what Ricoh does with/to Pentax I won't buy anything new from Pentax.

As I don't own a video dslr yet, and the 60D is better at video capture than Pentax K-5 and Nikon D7000, I'd be hardpressed to pay more than $899 for any dslr right now. $899 deal runs thru September 3rd, with no lens tie in on the special price. I suspect Canon next instant cash off rebate will require a lens tie in to get the $899 deal.

Factory warranties don't transfer here in USA so I've yet to buy any used Dslr.

Enjoy your next great gear buying adventure !

Sort of reminds me of the time I was fishing about 50 years ago and heard two old men on the creek bank next to me talking......One said to the other, "You know John, I have been married seven times, and married the same woman every time." "Sure, they all looked different, but every one was the same woman."

So did he have a problem, or was it the seven women?

The quest for perfection is seldom fulfilled, and the Devil I know, is almost always better than the Devil I don't know.

If you have a good copy of the K5, and are not happy, your misery will follow you wherever you go, I can almost put the Otis Guarantee on that.

Best Regards!
