would the K-5 still wireless control an off-camera AF540FGZ with an AF200FG mounted?

The reason for this is....to use the 540 FGZ as a bounce/ceiling flash, while the 200 FG would be used for direct flash. i like using the K-5's onboard flash, but that quickly sucks up precious battery power. I'm using an old Lindahl bracket that has just about enough room to mount a 200 FG (also have the BG-4 grip going)....anyways if anyone has the 200 FG and 540 FGZ in your possession...I'd like to know if this works before buying a 200 FG.

p.s. here's a sample pic of using on board flash with the 540 FGZ bounced.

No personal experience, but I believe off camera flash can only be controlled by the pop up flash or the 360/540 fgz. However if you set the the 540 fgz to optical slave mode it should be able to trigger it with the 200 FG. You won't get p-ttl like that though. You will have to set the 540 fgz power manually.

No, the 200FG is not a master flash...
But what you can do is set your on-board to wireless Controller, and use your 200FG on the bracket, wired using the special FG f5p adapter (that allows the on-board flash to be raised).

that's what i was afraid of. i wouldn't mind getting the AF360FGZ--much nicer flash but the way my bracket is set up, i don't think it would have enough clearance. i don't want to use optical trigger...only since at places like wedding receptions, that could be triggered by other folks' cameras. the metz 58 AF-2 looks like an attractive option with that smaller forward facing flash....hmmm i might look into that.

I don't understand something... Your 200FG is already on a bracket, no? So your on-board flash is free, you just have to hook the whole thing together...
Using a FG flash adapter with a F5P cord and a tripod-mount F hot-shoe, you can wire your 200fg to your camera, but still use the on-board flash as a controller flash for your 540... Here you go!

oh i don't have a AF200FG. i am just using my onboard flash and using it with my AF540FGZ wirelessly as a slave bounce. i thought maybe the AF200FG could be used instead of the on-board flash to conserve battery power for the K-5. i do have the F5p adapter + cord .... but then not sure where to mount the AF200FG...as i have the AF540FGZ on the bracket.

OK, now I get it!
You have your 540 on the bracket, and wanted the 200 for a bit of direct flash...

Then why don't you use a F hot-shoe on the camera so you can still mount the 200 above it, and wire your 540 on the bracket? So you will ditch the wireless mode (keeping some more power) and have your direct flash.

Or maybe sometime you still truly deport your 540 for real wireless?

hmm i am not adverse to using the cord (i have a couple of those too) but does it work? hehe i will have to find that out eh? the AF200FG is pretty economical at around 130 bucks at b&h......hehe if it doesn't work, i can always give the AF200FG to my wife so it can work on her K20D

thanks for your reply!
