That is exactly what I do JohnBee. Pentax colors are really sweet. But those tweeks really bring out the best in the K-5 I think. I have noticed it is not the same for Canon thou... Pentax is my love for sure. That K-5 has really spoiled me and i pit it against every other camera.

this is interesting, when I got my K-x I also played with profiles in LR and never liked the look of "embedded" so I left it at adobe standard...rechecked this now with K5...hmm
looks like the embedded really boosts the colours in sort of "warmer" WB, but if I just set the embedded profile leaving other values as before, the reds get overexposed, for example
I never played with K10D raws otoh

I always liked adobe standard over embedded, especially with reds and violets. IMHO, of course.

I don't know what hope anyone has of developing accurate colours. Look at any camera vs standard. None are correct across all colours.

All one can do is look for a colour cast that pleases you. I didn't have the K-5 long enough to have an opinion, but the reds seemed a little pink. Of the Pentaxes I've had, the K100DS was too warm, K-x too cool and K20D just right, out of the box, for me.

So what is the difference between embedded and adobe standard? does embedded use the same profile used in creating pentax jpeg? i find default colors for red and purple to be a little on the magenta and pink side, respectively. i think the comment on "camera vs standard" has some truth to it, none are all correct. ALso, I think the quality of the lens has some effect before color reaches your sensor as raw data.

Definitely the lens is a factor, sometimes more of a factor than the body. I have a Kiron with a strong blue colour cast. I find my 18-135mm also punches up blues, although not as much as the Kiron. I never liked the colours from my Tamron 70-300mm, and from looking at photos on the net, some Sigmas seem overly warm.

can confirm this - there is big difference between warmish rendering of my DA 35/2,8 and much cooler A 50/1,7

Just wondering, when I open my k-x raw files in ACR, I don't see embedded profile. Am I missing anything?

Hi,
I've prepared a little comparison between LR's camera profiles with a K-5.
click here (click on the images to compare them).

Best regards,

Here's a comparison I did some time ago, showing K20D raw conversions for Adobe Camera Raw vs Pentax. I have a clear preference for Pentax colour rendition. There was nothing I could do to made Adobe files look like Pentax (Silkypix) files.

Ho ? The photo roll-over effect is made with Adobe Flash, maybe you don't have Flash on your device ?

Edit : Oh sh**, that stupid internet explorer doesn't show the flash files in my Wordpress blog, it works with all other navigators.
I'll fix that.
