Why does my new K-5 SN start with a 39?

Manufacture Date 2011:03:18

Serial Number 4023879

I was just taking for granted I'd be Ok, not overly thrilled my new K-5 is actually four months old which makes me start to wonder, time for some tests?

Mine was bought last week and has a manufacture date of 2011-02-23, a serial number 39XXXX and had 0 on the shutter count. Not expecting any issues, but will deal with them if they arise - "testing" will be normal usage.

Well, my new one bought 2 days ago from B&H is 5 months old. 2/09/2011

But the shutter count was 3 which is right because I actuated the shutter 3 times, and it looked factory fresh coming out of the box. Just the luck of the draw.

I test everything regardless, so far this camera is FLAWLESS. (Not to mention I think I'm in LOVE...)

I'll be watching though.
