16-50 and 50-135 came today...

And I noticed on the SN cards a hand written "0" in blue ink on both cards near the SN.

Me thinks they are checking or upgrading something at the factory before shipment, probably having something to do with the SDM (circular) drive.

Just a WAG.

According to a recent thread (about a month or so ago) the issue with the SDM is that the motor mount is a poor design, particular to the 16-50 as that is the one the poster had repaired. Apparently, it's held in there with one screw and can shift, and bind. Perhaps they've addressed and fixed that?

Dear God I hope so. I really hope they have some sort of "fix".
Just sent off two 16-50's. One for the third time for SDM jamming, the other less than three months old with the same issue.

I may only be 'lucky' but I have one of the oldest 16-50's in the forum database---(actually 8th from the oldest) purchased new by me in August 2007.

It has been my 'walking around' lens since then and clearly my most used lens.
I have no history of problems with it.

Well today I sold my 50-135mm, and with that my total startset of januari 2009 (K20D, 16-50, 50-135, filters, card, grip/battery) has left my house. But it is a great lens.
