How to change from JPG to RAW ?

Hi thanks in advance
I had a Pentax ISD previously and I would simply selected Raw or JPEG etc.
With my New K5 I can see the JPEG selections & stars but no RAW selection.

I can't locate where you can change your raw to JPEG or vice versa?
Its probably glaringly obvious - but I can't find it
I am sure some will shed light on this thanks

I think I worked it out - You have to be in USER MODE to access the RAW settings

In K-5 and K-7, when you select RAW you have only the choice of the RAW file format: DNG or PEF. The RAW file is recorded with the full camera sensor resolutions. In other words, in RAW you canot downgrade the resolution (in camera) and you cannot choose between 1 star, 2 stars, .. or 12 Mp, 10 Mp, 6 Mp.

For a *stD, you can choose between the following file formats:
• RAW (12-bit)
• TIFF (8-bit RGB)
• JPEG (EXIF 2.21) - 3 levels
I read that you turn the front dial to select image quality:
(JPEG)
(JPEG)
(JPEG)
• TIFF
• RAW
and the the rear dial to select image size (where applicable):
• Large
• Middle
• Small

Hope that the advice will assist, mate...

Nope... works in any mode.
Press the info button and the display will show a rectangle in the lower left with either JPEG or RAW or RAW+. Use the buttons to navigate to this and the rear dial to switch.
There's also a RAW button on the front left you can program to switch back and forth. Change the settings to suit under the menu, camera menu screen 4.

G'day Isa. Some of the features of the K-5 only work in JPEG mode. As mentioned above, HDR is one example. Make sure you don't have any of these features activated, then either just press the 'raw' button on the front of the camera, or press 'info' and select either 'raw', 'Jpeg' or both (Raw +). When you are in any mode where RAW is not available, it will be greyed out on the 'info' screen.

Enjoy your camera, its a great tool.
