Composing while focusing with live view magnification

I have trouble with this. As I don't have a proper split image focusing screen yet on my K-5, I try to use live view magnification which works reasonably well, but then I don't have the composition any more. Is there something I am missing here?

I think on a Sony NEX they magnify the object one is focusing on rather than the whole image. Why don't we have a feature like this on the K-5?

i'm not sure i follow the question. are you talking about MF or AF focusing using live view?

With AF, you simply half press the shutter button and it quickly focuses (you can select the specific point of focus), then immediately returns to full field of view so that you can recompose.

got it, that's tough for closeups where you cannot focus and then zoom out quick enough to keep the plane of focus. If you press MENU after focusing it will return you to the full view, but you may already know that.
best to get the split screen right away. I have used others in the past but went with a katzeye for the K5 and am having great results, btw.
