I just got Lightroom3 and I filled my first memory card and need to download/import my photos from my K-5. My card reader shows several folders and then shows DCIM with several subfolders which looks like duplicates of some of the folders above. I don't understand why there would be duplicates. Anyway which ones am I suppose to import, the photos in the top folders or the ones in the subfolders under the DCIM heading?

I shoot RAW only and the folders under the DCIM folder contain the image files. I thought the JPG files were stored in the same place as the PEF or DNG files, but it's been a while since I've shot JPG and my memory is hazy.

You have a few options for selecting folder and file name formats (see pages 300-303 in the manual). My folder names are based on date and I'm in a day/month/year country, so my current folders are 100_1608, 101_1708 and 102_1908. If you have your K5 set up to display month/day/year dates, your equivalents would be 100_0816, etc.

My file names are IMGP7262.PEF, IMGP7263.PEF, etc. Current file sizes range between 18MB and 24MB, but I've seen them over 30MB. JPG and DNG files may well have different sizes, but they should be a significant number of MB unless you are shooting low quality JPG. Make sure that you are downloading big files.
