Actually on release the K5 held it's price pretty well in Canada (1599) and didn't really start to drop till late December

Sir, I find your lack of enthusiasm highly offensive
I think this will set the bar lower for the amazon/b&h/prodigital2000 pricing ... overall, a good thing, wouldn't you say?

It is an instant rebate which means it is already included in the $1199。 So:

WAS: $1,499.95
NOW: $1,199.95 (=1499-300)

I hope the rebate will also become available at retailers- but as I said earlier, a net price below 1100 is extremely unlikely.

Wow. This thread title had me reaching for my wallet. Turns out it's not exactly what I thought. We'll see if perhaps any retailers get it significantly lower than the $1,200.00 price. At least $1200 is a move in the right direction.

Cool price reduction for sure....but really only about $100 or so cheaper than they were a month ago. Not complaining....$100 is $100....and this will help speed up my being able to get mine

So is this just an instant rebate or a harbinger of new models imenently descending from Pentax heaven?

Just checked it out at B&H...

So I paid $1500 for the kit and now it's $1350. That's $150 better, not a bad savings.

The body only was $1350 and now it's $1200, and that's a $150 savings as well and has me itching for a second body!

BUT, is there a new body coming soon? That is the question.

B&H will refund you the difference if you purchased 30days or less. When I bought mine back in May I paid $1350 for the body only and in sometime in June it was lowered to $1295. B&H gladly refund me $55.

In the next 6 months we'll probably see a new body- but I'm not sure that will push down the price of the K-5! I think it's still a good time to buy it until we hear something definitive from Pentax.
