I think of the Pentax website price as more like MSRP ... hopefully the online vendors will adjust to way below that.

The price of $1200 is on Amazon for a long time. Should they go down to to $800 with this rebate?

BH is showing the 300 dollars off of $1500. So that's 1200 dollars.

Amazon does NOT show any additional instant rebates, just that they'll sell you the camera for 1273 dollars.

I think the idea is to sell a new body at 1200-ish dollars, NOT 1200 - 300 = 900 dollars.

Someone prove me wrong .... please!

Henrys in Canada has just dropped to 1250 as a sale price (likely offset by a similar idea

It is an instant rebate which means it is already included in the $1199。 So:

WAS: $1,499.95
NOW: $1,199.95 (=1499-300)

It's been selling at 1200-1250$ in Canada for some time already. check Prodigital, Zone5photo and more importantly Gosselin photo.

Their basing the price reduction off of 1,599, which is a price they probably never sold the camera for anywhere.

1,599 - 100 = 1,499 - 300 = $1199

Nothing to see here except marketing, move along.
