Setting the focus point

Is it possible to assign the rear e-dial to scroll through the focus points while in AF SEL mode? Seems to me like a better, faster way to select which focus point I want to use.

How will that work? You won't be able to select any of the points up/down

Coming from a Canon 5D MKII, I could toggle through all the points, stop at the point I wanted. Seems like an easy thing to do. The four way pad ends up changing other parameters when I use(attempt to use) it.

When using the 4-way, engage it by pressing the "ok" button first - when pressed, you will see the directional marks appear on the focus square then use the 4-way to move to the point you want...

You gotta press until you hear the beep, then the 4-way pad will adjust WB, drive mode, etc. Press until you hear the beep again and it toggles back to adjusting the focus point. Not perfect, but it works.

Of course you will.. Scrolling through the AF points would include al of them on the screen regardless of their position. Simply stop on the one you want.

But what about the original question? Can you assign the focus point control to a wheel? Or might there be a possibility of this option in a firmware update?

I borrowed a friend's Canons until I got a K20D to tide me over until I could get a K5. There are a *lot* of things I like better about the Pentax, but controling the focus point seems cumbersome compared to the ease of scrolling through them on a wheel.

No, you can't.
