Howdy all,
Just wanted your collective feedback on what post processing software people are using? I used the Silkypix, and I currently use iPhoto. I've got CS5, but again, just a bit of feedback.

I'm old-school. I use XnView as image browser and to rotate jpegs; PentaxPhotoLab3 (SilkyPix) for RAW development; PaintShopPro9 for editing; AutoStitch and sometimes Canon's PhotoStitch to stitch panos and arrays; AnimationShop3 to build AVIs and GIFs; Magix Video7 to assemble vids. Someday I may try that newfangled LightRoom thang to see how it works, but I'm pretty happy with what I'm used to.

I like Elements...with a lot of plug ins.....and Spix. With these two I can do most anything for my needs. I tried Lightroom once, but found Elements better for my use.
I think it is a matter of what works best and easiest for you...there are so many good programs out there it is nice to have choices!

Well I was purely Lightroom, with PSKiss Cross Camera Profiles, but got an email from Amazon over the weekend that they were doing a £305 discount off the £615 cost of CS5 for the one day... so I guess I'll be coming to you with the questions from now on

I don't use anything but Photoshop CS5. I have not found another software product that can compete with it for post work.

Bibble 5 is very, very broken and renders K-5 files poorly, with pink highlights that can't be suppressed without ruining the rest of the picture.

They have known about this for half a year. So I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

I use Pentax Digital Camera Utility (PDCU), provided with the camera. It runs on a Silkypix engine and does a great job in terms of IQ. The latest version 4.33 is a marked improvement although it is still not as user-friendly as others.

Did I mention it is free?

In addition I use a dedicated softwares:
- PTlens for lens distortion correction,
- Noiseware (Standalone) for noise reduction - PDCU doe swell but I prefer the rendering of Noiseware,
- Hugin for panoramic,
- XnView for batch file renaming.

If you are already an iPhoto user, the jump to Apple's Aperture is natural and easy (3.1.3 is the current release). It's like iPhoto on steroids, and much more powerful in all respects. I especially like Aperture's exceptional library organization features, and it handles all the PP I want or need to do. As with CS5, there are many excellent tutorials available to teach you how to set up a workflow that achieves what you need.

I have been using ACDSEE Pro 4. I find it to be similar to Lightroom but easier.

Lightroom 3 here. Cataloguing and rating pics is as important as processing IMO.

i use Corel's PSP X3 a lot, and have used PSP since version 8, but lately i have been doing some experimenting in silkypix (pentax photo lab 4) and am considering either PS5 or lightroom, based upon the ability to use lens profiles for correction.

while pentax photo lab is not too bad for lateral CA it cannot perform complicated distortion correction (only barrel and pincushion) .

PSP X3 is the same for distortion, but has no real CA correction only fringe removal. Better CA correction programs separate the image into 3 colors and change the magnification ratio of each, to better manage the correction, adn this also has a marked improvement on the edge sharpness of lenses that exhibit lateral CA.
