So I don't know why I waited so long to get rid of my K-10 and buy a K-5.... except to hope it was bugless.
Well, after 5 weeks of monsoonal rain in the forests of Assam, India and South Thailand, shooting 2600 pics of plants and habitat with the K-5 coupled to a new WR 100 mm Pentax macro, I'd like to state unequivocally, this is the most fantastic camera I've ever owned. Although I lugged along my Manfroto gearhead for the critical shots--I'm not sure why? ISO 3200/6400 shots were fine and the flash is much superior to the K-10. There is such flexibility with this camera!
I'm sorry to hear so many problems are still being reported, but knock on wood, mine is flawless. Now let me say, this camera occupied my backpack at all
times with no protection but a ziplock bag. It forded streams, climbed mountains in driving rain and got a few bangs. For 10 years I had the older, heavier
version of the 100mm macro which remained a solid piece of equipment mounted on the K-10, which I'd like to report is now in the hands of my Ph.D. student
in Nagaland, India. A gift so I can get some good plant pics back. Hopefully it will continue to produce some awesome shots for years to come for him.
Yea PENTAX.
