question about sd card's led

When my K5 is off, why does the led light comes on when I put a new or the same sd card back in?
Thanks
Eddy

As does my cameras, both the K-x and K20D. I assume it's checking the sd card or mounting it or something.

It's just a confirmation light, a friendly little affirmation everything's good. Think of it as a digital smile. I may just draw a smile face on the LED myself.
