I'm sorry, but where has anyone complained about the features and performance of the K5? It's gotten virtually nothing but raves. The complaints are about quality control, not features and capabilities.

Yeah, I'm pretty much buying a K-5 at the first opportunity after seeing how poorly my K200D performed at ISO 1600 during a roller derby this weekend. These pictures sold me for sure.

I may get one too, although the quality issues have been a deterrent. I'm on the point of saying to myself, "I'm not gambling on a new camera. I'm just increasing the value of my K7 as a possible backup."
Oddly enough, the low-light capabilities of the K5 make me want fast glass more, not less, simply because the camera seems to handle exposure in dim conditions better than my eyes can handle focusing without the brightest possible view. But it'll sure be nice to be able to stop down and use faster shutter speeds.

I am equally sorry but where in my post did I say a single word about features or performance? I said I had been seeing a lot of posts about technical (AKA quality control) problems with the K5 and at the time I posted there were a lot. Several from the same guy who was slamming the camera and the members of this forum as "fanboys" and how he was deleting the bookmark. Of course, that same guy is one of the K5's biggest fans now.

My point is that you seem to attribute some misapprehension on my part about how great the K5 is when I was actually posting about just that.

I see, abmj. So your idea of a relevant answer to complaints about quality control was to offer redundant evidence of the splendid performance of the K5 that had nothing to do with the quality control complaints that you were responding to. I understand now.

Well all of those K-5's that were returned from various reasons (some had problems, for some the users had problems) had to go somewhere! Now you know at least one where it went! Maybe add the serial to the database, so others know? It's not that manufacturer refurbished are bad cameras, is the fact that those should not be sold "as new".

StepOne -- I apologize -- I deleted the comment that you're responding to, before I saw your reply. Sorry for any confusion, people.
(StepOne, what shocked me about this was that it's a store that's so well-regarded. I've been buying from them for over twenty years and never had a problem.)

On the first page of the C menu, set item 1, EV steps, to "1" for 1/3 EV Steps, then set item 2, Sensitivity Steps, to "2", for "as EV steps." Now you'll be able to dial the auto iso up to 8000.

This one is one of the few keepers from that evening/night. There was very little light and I was very thankful to have both SR and the K-5 sensor! I had huge problems focusing as I basically didn't see anything in the viewfinder.

I did actually manage to get one or two usable pictures later that night using ISO 51200, f/1.2 and 1.5 sec exposure hand held, IMO that's insane. To put it into perspective taking the same shot with the K-7 and a 2.8 zoom would have required an over minute exposure time!

K-5 @ 51200, K50/1.2 @ 1.2, 1/10 sec. Some NR in lightroom but nothing too much.
