Anybofy use a Sigma 24-70 2.8 HSM?

I am wondering if your camera identifies it as such? If you take a look at my other thread A Little Advice? SR working? you can see that my camera is identifying my lens as a sigma 70-200 and that my SR is not working. Anyway just need to know if anybody else is using this lens and SR without problems.

Yeah it is a nice lens just as he described. I need specific info on the K5 and this lens.

I just picked up the Sigma 24-70/2.8 HSM with no time to test yet but just ran one shot for you and Photome says its "stabilized" but an "Unknown (Lens Id: 8 7)", with the latest exif tag update available from the writer's site. Maybe i need a utility that has been updated in the last 2 years? Suggestions?

Photome says 70-200 for me. See if LV focusing works and SR works. Maybe you received one with the updated firmware. If so could you tell me the serial number

First let me say I have both of those (24-70 and 70-200) HSM, non OS, just bought a couple of months ago and love both. However, I had to adjust both lenses to -10 on K5 and K20 to get close to focusing close to where AF says it is, however it's still not enough. As others have reported, I'd probably need -12 to -14 to get them where they need to be.

Because of this, I am planning on sending them to Sigma to calibrate - as soon as my busy season winds down and I can do without one of my cameras for a couple of weeks.

For whatever reason, Sigma gives a couple of their lenses the same identification numbers so that Pentax cameras think that they are the same. The only solution is to get the lens rechipped by Sigma to give it a unique identifier.

According to Sigma there is a known compatibility problem, and the fix is on the way. So if you have this lens and have problems with Live View or SR either return it to the store, or be prepared to send it in to sigma.

I see the issue. The seller included this note letting me know that the firmware supported SR and LV.

" The lens firmware has been updated at Sigma Service Center to the latest versoin so it works well with Pentax' in-body Shake Reduction and AF in LiveView (they didn't work w/o the updated firmware!)."

The serial is 1012946

Good luck.
