a small step for mankind...a giant leap for me !

Hi,

Since i'm bumping into the restrictions of my first dslr (a Olympus E-420) I'm browsing the market for another camera.
Budgetwise i was looking for something around the € 1000,00 mark. Since i will use the cam mainly in low light conditions where flashing is a NO GO (theatre rehearsals, gigs) only two contenders were left 'cause of their great 'low light' abilities : namely the Nikon D7000 & the K5

in 'written' the K5 is my favourite but i like to see some photographic evidence before purchasing one of the candidates.(I know, buying any of those 2 will be a giant leap forward for me ! )

Are there people here who use their K5's in the same way as i'm intend to use it ? And if so, which lenses do you use?
It would be great to see some samples !

kind regards,

KF

Never used it in a theatre, but Antwerp is not so far, so that could be a nice day out (I have two K-5's)

not quite the k-5, but here are some shots i've taken with the k-x before i upgraded. The k-x was pretty damn good, but the k-5 just tops it in every way.

As for lenses, I was a second shooter for the show, so I got by at the time with an 80-200 f/2.8

Here are quite a few images taken with the K5....I don't know about theater, but I think a number of the scenes come close.

Thanks for the feedback guys !

looks very promising, found already another set of 'concert' photo's on Flickr and they didn't disappoint me at all !
thx for those links adpo, nice to compare the K-x vs the D7000 shots, for my needs the differences are negligible. (and the K5 is an even better performer as they say...)
Guess the K5 will certainly do the trick...looks we have a winner here !

cheers !

I am no professional but the Pentax DA 50-135 f2.8 lens is just the thing for my needs. You will need a relatively 'fast' lens like this.

I had the opportunity a little while ago to shoot a concert. Some impressions on https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/163422-people-toyota-jac...mb-photos.html

Just in case it does not work (my site where I store the photos is considered a spam site by some software), one sample
