I think you're overly paranoid.
Having owned almost every Pentax DSLR from the *istDL2 to my current K-5 and Kr, none of what you've stated has ever happened. If anything, I can definitely testify that there are often real but unstated improvements in code and functionality beyond what is officially stated... knowing my local Pentax repair personnel definitely helps.
