Not sure what an "AF bottom" is, but it'll AF as soon as you press it.

I always use AF-S. I just figure that with soccer there are so many bodies coming in and out of the frame that I just don't trust the the focus will continuosly track on MY subject. AF-C would probably work Ok for baseball - but I'm just so used to working with AF-S that I just leave it there unless I'm using a manual lens.
