How to find out build date of K-5?

Hi folks! Recently bought the K-5 at Henry's here in Canada with the 5 year extended plan with the 18-135mm WR lens. The cost of all the gear really does add up quickly!

Thought I'd make my acquaintance by starting a thread regarding a somewhat irrelevant issue, that is, the build date of my camera. Anyone know of a way to find this info out? Considering that many complex electronics have the date stamped on the unit, it would have been "cool" in this case as well.

Now I have to research that sensor stain thing but it's probably not an issue because Henrys moves a lot of stock...

Thanks and caio!

Thanks for the info. I updated my firmware to 1.11 before I checked my manufacture date. I learned about Photome after the fact.
The date says Oct 24/2011. Is this date connected to the firmware date or is this the actual build date?

In PhotoMe if it says: Manufacturing Date it is Manufacturing date and that will not change if you load new FW. It will only change if a new Main Board is fitted as the manufacturing date is coded there.

Greetings

Welcome to the forum and congratulation on your purchase of the k-5. I got the k-5 from McBean (save a little more on taxes) earlier in the month. If you look at the k-5 serial number database, there is not a lot to worry about the stain issue as there was none reported recently. Also since you have purchased the 5-year warranty, you should be good. Meanwhile, enjoy your new toy. Here is the k-5 database link.
