broken k20d.. k5 maybe?

i broke my k20d and i have a lot of pentax lenses (70-210, 50 1.7, 50 1.2, 28 2.8, 135 2.8).
I also have a nikon D70s, with a 17-50 2.8, 50 1.8 and a 90 2.8 macro.
The thing is that i dont know what to do, because the nikon is only 6mpx, no IS and lot of noise above ISO 800...
what would you guys do, sell all my pentax lenses, my nikon body and get a D7000, get a K5 (i dont like its video features, ISO manual control and the compression codec) and wait with the nikon as a main body until the new pentax camera comes out (If and only if they fix video on the camera!!!)
ps. will they fix the manual ISO control on the K5??

Pentax k20d

Having had both the D7000 and the K5 I would somewhat recommendthe K5. The high ISo is better, the image quality is noticeably better. just look at the detail and the Nikon gets a bit smudgy at high magnification and the K5 doesn't, in my experience. The D7000 has AF in movie mode, but even with their swm lenses, you hear the focus chattering, making it fairly useless as it is heard on the video. Both bodies are weather sealed K5 is better, especially in cold climates, but Pentax makes more weather sealed lenses us mere mortals can afford.
The Pentax K5 is smaller, and I know a lot of people complain about the mode locking button, but it is one of the reasons I bought the K5. I was sick and tired of pulling my D7000 out of the bag and inadvertently spinning the mode dial, often ruining a great shot.
The Nikon has zippier af, but I haven't seen enough difference in my shooting that it makes a difference. I love the great primes that Pentax has also, that are somewhat affordable, compared to the high end Nikkors, which are not. The Nikon is probably a better choice for a working pro as there are many more types of lenses available. Anyway, that is my two cents worth.

I probably have missed something, but what is the manual ISO control problem?

What's wrong with the K20D? I just dropped mine and spent more that I wanted to have it repaired but could not see simply trashing it.. I thought about getting a K5D but that will come and I will still have the K20D..

Add me to the list of Puzzled People. Manual ISO control works just fine on my K-5...

The Last time.i.checked you dont have control.over ISO in video mode. My k20d is not storing images into the memory card after droping it from my shoulder to the floor....

I would skip the K5 as it does not give you what seems to be important to you. As I have not looked at other makes since I bought my first Pentax 3 years ago, I can not advise further. Glad I'm not in your shoes.

OK, did not know that. I would not bet on it that a software upgrade is planned for that. Might well have been a design decision and updates usually don't include new functionalities.

It's 1/180s in case that's relevant. But I guess you want 1/250s or better.

Best rumor thread is now over 2,000 posts and the guesses range from sometime in January 2012 to never.....

It is likely that we will see a replacement for the k-r this spring. The k-5 replacement is less certain. Personally I doubt we will see it before next fall. Which is why I bought the k-5 on Cyber Monday. You places your bets and takes your chances.

K20D and K-5

I can't agree more to this statement. My K20D sensor was faulty and produced a white line in every photograph and the money spent to fix it was hard to accept but nevertheless I spent and got it fixed. Then soon after came in the K-5 into my equipment arsenal. And wow it was a fantastic camera! However, the K20D still have a place in my drybox because it simply is also a fantastic camera that went through thick and thin with me for the past few years.

To the threadstarter, you won't regret if you buy the K-5 since you already have alot of Pentax lenses. Otherwise, get your K20D fixed and continue using it. It is still a very capable camera.
