Group buy - silicone skin for K-5

Hi guys,

I posted a while ago asking if anyone knew of any products like Camera Armor for the K-5 (original thread: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-k-5-forum/124744-camera-armor-k-5-a.html )

I used to use Camera Armor on my K10D. Even though the cameras are rugged and weather sealed, it gave me additional peace of mind.

Anyway back on topic - I recently renewed my search (as the original thread came up fruitless) and came across some products for other cameras, but nothing for the K-5.

I've been in contact with Discovered, who make this Easy Cover for Canons and Nikons:

easyCover camera case | Discovered

While they don't currently make one for the K-5, they have entertained my idea's of a limited production run if I could get enough commitments to buy.

So the first step is testing the waters - Would anyone else be interested in purchasing one of these?

I've no idea on what the pricing would be, but from seeing some online it looks to be in the $50 USD range.

Thanks,

Adam

I used Camera Armor on my K10D as well. Like you said, it is nice to have the extra protection against bumps, drops and while it was packed away in my back-country hiking backpack. I would be interested if they made a K5 version.

How does it handle dust? I know the silicon covers on my other devices attract dust. Though with the K-5 you could just rinse the whole setup at once.

Looks like it would at least keep the lens release button from popping off

I would also be interested in purchasing at least one of these skins. Last year purchased the K20D version with the hope of using it on my K200D - it did not fit well enough to use (no surprise), but I was impressed by the level of protection it would give to a matching camera body.

Does these silicone skins do anything to muffle the mirror slap noise? Maybe if there was a cover available for the prism/built-in flash it might be more effective(?).

I had a thread about this a while ago. For another manufacturer, but they needed an order for at least 1.000 items. How is that with this product?

Was just going to ask the same as Ron - what's the MOQ required here?

For a reasonable price, I'd be in, and especially if it covers the lens release button, as noted.

Also interested

Up to $ 50 I'm very interested. Push it towards $75 and I get "iffy."
